Terms of Use
Last updated: 26 August 2026
Ownspend is a personal budgeting tool, not financial advice. Using it on your own needs no account, and nothing syncs between your devices. Shared Wallet is free and lets two adults co-manage one set of records; both members can see and edit everything in that shared wallet, and either person can always leave and keep their own local copy. Purchases go through Apple. The app is provided “as is,” and you’re responsible for your own financial decisions.
1. Acceptance
By downloading or using Ownspend you agree to these Terms of Use and to the Privacy Policy. This agreement is between you and Moath Othman (the “developer,” “we,” “us”). If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. The Apple standard licence (EULA)
The app is licensed, not sold, to you. Apple’s standard End User License Agreement governs the licence; these Terms supplement it. If the two conflict on licensing, Apple’s EULA controls; on Ownspend-specific matters, these Terms control.
3. The app is not financial advice
Ownspend is a personal budgeting and expense tracker. It is not financial, investment, or tax advice, and it contains only the data you enter (no bank connections). You are responsible for your own financial decisions. For guidance specific to your situation, consult a qualified professional.
4. Your account (Shared Wallet only)
- Solo use requires no account. An account is created only when you start or accept a Shared Wallet, using Sign in with Apple or Google.
- Age requirement: to create an account and use Shared Wallet you must be at least 16 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, if higher). Ownspend is not directed to children.
- You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for activity under your account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings.
5. Shared Wallet: conduct and two-party data
A Shared Wallet is co-owned in practice by its two members. By using it you agree:
- Both members can view, add, edit, and delete every record in the shared wallet. There is no per-record privacy inside a shared wallet — the privacy boundary is the wallet itself. Share only a wallet whose entire contents you are willing for the other member to see.
- You are responsible for the data you contribute and confirm you have the right to share it. Do not put another person’s data into a shared wallet without their agreement.
- Roles: the wallet owner can invite or remove the other member and can delete the shared wallet; either member can leave at any time. (Full role behavior is in the app and the Privacy Policy.)
- Two-party data ownership & separation on exit (dispute / breakup).
Because a shared wallet often involves a couple or household, exits are designed to be
humane and to avoid holding anyone’s data hostage:
Principle: a member can always walk away with their own local copy of any data they could see. We do not adjudicate disputes between members over shared content; the design instead guarantees each person can keep and export their copy.
What happens Result A member leaves The leaving member keeps a local personal copy of the shared records (it detaches into a normal personal wallet on their device). The cloud share continues for the remaining member. The owner leaves (a member remains) Ownership transfers to the remaining member. The former owner keeps a local personal copy. The owner deletes the shared wallet Both members are notified and offered an export/local copy; the cloud data is removed after a 30-day grace period. - Your personal wallets, budgets, and goals stay private and on-device; they are never shared, even if you also use a Shared Wallet.
6. Subscriptions and purchases
- Ownspend offers a free tier and a Pro unlock, available either as a one-time lifetime purchase or as a monthly or yearly subscription. Shared Wallet is free — neither member is asked to pay for it.
- Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Auto-renewing subscriptions renew until cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends; manage or cancel in your App Store account settings.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s policies.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to: attempt to breach security or access data of a share you are not a member of; interfere with the service’s integrity; reverse-engineer the app except as permitted by law; or use the app unlawfully. We may suspend access that threatens the security or integrity of the service or other users.
8. Availability and data integrity
The Shared Wallet service is provided on an “as available” basis with no guaranteed uptime; it depends on third-party infrastructure (Google Firebase, Apple). We design sync to avoid losing committed records, but you should keep your own exports of important data. Solo mode does not depend on our servers at all.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ownspend is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, for any financial decisions you make using the app, or for loss of data beyond what the law requires. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law (including your mandatory consumer rights). Apple is a third-party beneficiary of the Apple standard EULA and may enforce it against you.
10. Changes and termination
We may update these Terms; material changes are reflected in the “Last updated” date and the App Store release notes. You may stop using and delete the app at any time. If we discontinue a feature, we will give reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your data where applicable.
11. Governing law and contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of the developer’s jurisdiction, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer-protection laws where you live. Questions: dark2torch@gmail.com.
