FairDocs requests only the permissions it needs to function:
You can revoke any permission at any time in iOS Settings › FairDocs.
Scanned documents are saved to on-device storage (your device's local file system) or to your personal iCloud Drive if you choose that destination. Both options are controlled by Apple, not by FairDocs. We never receive a copy of your documents or their contents.
If you use iCloud Drive, Apple encrypts your files in transit and at rest under your Apple ID. FairDocs is not party to that transaction. Apple's privacy policy governs iCloud data.
Text recognition (OCR) uses Apple's Vision framework and runs entirely on your iPhone. Document text is never extracted and transmitted to any server — not ours, not Apple's Vision API in the cloud. The processing happens locally on the device's Neural Engine. We do not see, log, or store the text content of any document you scan.
The optional Pro upgrade ($19.99, one-time) is processed by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit 2. FairDocs never sees your payment method, Apple ID, or billing details. Apple's privacy policy governs that transaction.
FairDocs contains no third-party analytics SDK (no Firebase, no Mixpanel, no Amplitude, no Crashlytics, no Meta Pixel). There are no ads. There is no tracking across apps or websites. We do not use device fingerprinting or cross-app identifiers.
We use Apple's built-in App Store Connect analytics (aggregate, anonymised download and usage metrics provided by Apple) to understand how the app is doing. We cannot tie these aggregate metrics to you personally.
FairDocs requires no sign-up, no email address, no phone number, and no social login. There is no FairDocs account. There is no FairDocs server that stores your identity or any document you have ever scanned.
To be explicit about what FairDocs does not do:
FairDocs is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal data from anyone of any age.
Because FairDocs stores nothing on our servers, there is no FairDocs database to breach. If your device is compromised, that is governed by Apple's device security model — we recommend using a strong passcode and Face ID/Touch ID.
We retain no data. Documents and settings stored on your device are deleted when you delete FairDocs or when you delete them yourself. iCloud Drive files follow Apple's iCloud deletion policy.
If this policy ever changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted in the App Store release notes. Continued use of FairDocs after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
